As someone who dreams of doing this course but knows she hasn't got the mental stamina any more... WELL DONE YOU!!!!

Fantastic news, Chris! I would imagine that your participation (and of course, your superb writing) made the course a pleasure for the teacher/s, too.

Also, congrats on a safe return from the sea. xo
Great! I bet you feel good. I looked at this course but I don't think I have enough talent or commitment to see it through. Well done!

I hope the sailing was good - the weather certainly was.

Well I told you you should have dangled something behind you! Sausages or whatever. But seriously - poor you - it's not the pain, you become (well I do) stupidly (and it is stupid because it doesn't really hurt) scared of dogs that bite. It is unnerving. It fills you with unease. I hope you have words with the owners. They shouldn't allow biting dogs out. Next time it could be someone old or, worse, a child.

Next - congratulations on your distinction. I know how much that means to you. Glad you got back in one piece. Indeed glad you got back alive - you could have been washed up on the shore six weeks later. That would still have counted I suppose as getting back in one piece.

But great you are as ever on top form.

Oh! Rhaaaah! Congratulation Chris! Wonderful news, so no doubt some serious damage to be done to a bottle of wine, or whatever, tonight.

and you got a distinction! lol. Seriously, I am happy you survived the perils of the ocean, but delighted on your Distinction for the OU writing course.

congratulations on gaining a Distinction in your Course. Something i can only dream of.
And what is all this about a biting dog? I shall have to check it out.

Just had a look. Vicious brutes, Jack Russels. Give me a big dog any time; it's always the little ones who come out of their corner fighting. (or would that be men?)

Hope your bum's not sore anymore.

Oh well done! Who's a clever girl then.
I think trumpet tootling very appropriate and most deserved.
I have been thinking about doing this but not sure I could match that!

never mind the trumpet - if you've got it flaunt it - perhaps not in nipping distance of a JRT though. Many congratulations on your distinction - it was no doddle!!

Well done Chris and if you can't tootle your own trumpet .....!!
Good to see you back, in one UNSCATHED piece, from the sea!

Hi Chris, just stopping by to say hi and hope you're feeling better -it's been almost a week now so hope you'll be over that nasty bite by now!

Well if I match it or not you have spurred me on to apply for, and fax the forms off today for .... the OU's Diploma in Creative Writing and Literature - eek! Doesn't start till October so I've time to change my mind!!

Captain Black, thanks and good luck with the writing break.

Kate - no need to match anything, just be yourself AND DON'T YOU DARE CHANGE YOUR MIND!!

SBS, you are very kind, my friend.

Jeanne thanks, and it's very good to be back unscathed!

Gaelikaa - my nerve seems to have gone a bit, and I have a scar that most people will never see!

Just read this. So well done!!!

I only managed a second grade pass :(
ChrisH said…
Fia, thank you and I'm sorry for your disappointment. I think the ECA is the unknown factor; on paper I should have been on course for a distinction but, as I understand it, the weighting was always on the ECA so I was relieved that it worked out for me. I hope you're still going on to do next year's - it may work out very differently for you.
