What goes up ...


It struck me recently that for all this blog's claims to be about living and writing in West Wales, I tend to be a bit secretive about the writing part!  This year hasn't been plain sailing for all kinds of reasons, but I can see light at the end of the tunnel with my revisions... at least I hope it's light and not the train coming towards me!


What's been strange and wonderful, is that whilst I've been working on my revisions, Turning the Tide has been making a life of its own away from me.  Okay what goes up, must come down but  its current Amazon rankings have really cheered me up... apologies for the trumpet tootle.

That is so cool. Lovely to see Turning the Tide making its very own ripples in the amazon pond, Chris. I loved that book.

I think the picture and the font on this post should have been much bigger and in bold! That's fab. Tootle loudly on your trumpet and don't feel embarrassed. TTT's fans need (and want) to be told of its success.

Yes! You must tell EVERYONE! It is never boring to hear of someone's success, particularly when they are a nice someone. Trumpet it loud!

I have to agree with Jane and Mags. You shouldn't feel bad about trumpeting success like this. You're not one of those writers who just doesn't get social media and simply uses it as a look at me/buy my book tool. You're one of the good guys and it's lovely to be able to celebrate your successes with you.

Well done, Chris! I know you've had some problems this year but no doubt it will all be grist to the writer's mill. Now this soaring up the rankings with 'Turning the Tide' must surely behold you to scribbling a sequel for your readers - 'The Tide Goes Out' and maybe a prequel 'The Tide comes In'

And when you've done with those and MGM is knocking on your door there are the the film scripts 'The Tide Won't Wait' (She ebbed, I flowed) and the mystery thriller 'And the Moon Pulled the Tide,'just waiting to be fleshed out.'

I see you at Cannes!

Ooops! Calamity! The mystery thriller was supposed to be 'And the Tide pulled the Moon.' It's got to be that way round to be mysterious, hasn't it. In fact TTT is a bit like the tide pulling the moon when you think about it.

That's truly wonderful - blow away at your trumpet. I like being famous by association; ahem 'my friend the author'. You deserve the accolade - it should reach #1 if there's any justice in the world.

I still remember reading it on a canal boat chugging along the Mon- Brec canal in South Wales - hope the new one isnt too far away now. Bum on seat right now!

Chris, it's really so grand that many, many folks have had the pleasure of reading Turning The Tide. I wonder what I would think if I were ever to know that many folks had seen a drawing, print, or painting that I'd created.

Think perhaps I would levitate.

Bravo to you.

Keep going with the necessaries to get that next novel published.

Completely fabulous! You toot that post loudly m'dear as it's well deserved. I loved TTT as you know, and so did my Mother in Law and friend. Clever lady, you ;)

And I know what you mean about revisions, although it must be tougher for you, already having been published. But you have had rather a lot to contend with. Am sure you'll get on top and the next one will be equally successful.

Looking at the blurb for my new Lacura WrinkleStop from Aldi, I see that its active ingredient has been ‘proven to help • Reduce forehead wrinkles by 52% • Reduce crow’s feet by 24% • Restrict 82% of wrinkle muscle activity’ That’s quite a claim, isn’t it? Frankly, after years when my face looked like a lunar landscape thanks to the joys of acne, these days I’m just grateful to see a fairly blemish-free skin.
